The Brazilian Nicole Silveira finished this Friday (27) the Skeleton World Championship with a time of 04:38.51 in 16th place and thus obtained the best position of Brazil in the modality World Championships. The competition took place on the traditional track of St. Moritz (SUI), a 100% natural track built on snow. The title goes to the German Susanne Kreher, which is 04:33.57.

Nicole had a bumpy start on third down and it hurt her, finishing the lap in 01:10.20, her worst run of the competition. If she managed to hold between 1:09.3 and 1:09.5, as in previous runs, she would have gained at least one position, as shown by the time of her opponent Kendall Wessenberg, who gained three positions. Even with the slower descent, the Brazilian passed Puerto Rican Kellie Delka, but remained in 16th place.

Even with only the 18th-best run of run three, Nicole managed to approach the final run with some margin. Leader, Susanne Kreher saw the Dutch Kiberley Wood approaching and taking around 40 hundredths and only 0.25 off the lead, leaving the title fight for the final run.

Nicole’s last run was better, with a sharper start and a faster lap. She set her second-best time at worlds in 01:09.41 and nearly passed Olympic champion Hannah Neise, who was in 15th place.

the canadian Mirela Rahneva he gains two positions in the fourth run and takes the bronze. Kimberly Bos closed the gap again and took silver, losing to Kreher by just one hundredth.

On the men’s side, the title went to Briton Matt Weston, who clocked a total time of 04:28.71. Silver went to Amedeo Bagnis of Italy and bronze to Korean Seunggi Jung.
