Canada shot down a flying object that was flying over the country at high altitude

“I have ordered the downing of an unidentified object that violated Canadian airspace. NORAD [Comando de Defesa Aeroespacial Norte-Americano] shot down the object in Yukon airspace, Canadian and US air forces teamed up and a US F-22 successfully fired on the object,” the Canadian official wrote on Twitter.

The unidentified flying object is the third to violate North American airspace in the past two weeks.

In a second message, quoted by the Associated Press news agency, Trudeau added: “I spoke with President [dos Estados Unidos] Biden this afternoon. The Canadian Armed Forces will now recover and analyze the wreckage of the object. Thank you NORAD for watching over North America.”

A purported Chinese spy balloon spent nearly a week hovering over US and Canadian airspace before being shot down by US planes last week.

The U.S. military shot down a second object over Alaskan airspace on Friday, but officials did not provide details on the type of flying object shot down.
