The Secretariat for Persons with Disabilities and the Elderly (SEPEDI) of São Sebastião City Hall received this week the donation of bath chairs, walkers, crutches and canes, sent by the government of the State of São Paulo.
The delivery was coordinated by the Secretary of State for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, in partnership with the Secretary of Prison Administration, whose wheelchairs and bath chairs are refurbished by the inmates of “Professor Dr. Manoel Pedro Pimentel ” of Amparo ao Priso (FUNDAP) and with the State Department of Health, which, in addition to the equipment, has obtained walkers, crutches and canes. Partnership also, with the Municipality of São José dos Campos .
According to SEPEDI, the donations were 39 bath chairs, 30 wheelchairs, 30 walkers, 20 pairs of armpit crutches, 10 pairs of Canadian crutches, 20 units of ‘Robofoot G’, immobilization boot, 16 units of ‘Robofoot M’, immobilization boot, 10 units of ‘Type G’, 15 units of ‘Type M’, 05 units of ‘Type P’ and 01 Cane, for a total of 196 assistive technology items.
The Social Fund and Civil Defense of São Paulo also participated in the solidarity action, which helped with the logistics of transporting the material from the capital of São Paulo to São Sebastião.
According to the secretariat, the equipment has already been delivered to SEPEDI users who needed it, disabled people affected by the rains, basic health units (UBS) and rehabilitation centers in the neighborhoods of Topolândia and Boiçucanga.
Other donations can be made at SEPEDI headquarters, Avenida Vereador Antônio Borges, 1095, Praia Grande neighborhood (Balneário dos Trabalhadores). The articles will also help people with disabilities and those affected who have suffered some type of trauma or injury.
