Canada’s Porter Airlines, the largest customer of Embraer’s next-generation E2 aircraft, began commercial flights this Wednesday, Feb. 1, with its first two E195-E2 jets.
The planes have been used on several flights since January 21, but only with crew members on board, for training and certification.

The inaugural flights took off from Toronto Pearson Airport. Aircraft registration C-GKQM flew PD-155, a 38-minute service to Ottawa, and aircraft registration C-GKQL flew PD-105, a 52-minute service to Montreal.
A total of 50 units of the E195-E2 have been ordered by the Canadian company, which still has 50 more purchase rights, totaling up to 100 examples, should it choose to exercise all rights.
In addition to debuts on fast routes in eastern Canada, Porter’s first long-distance flights with Brazilian aircraft will begin next Tuesday, February 7, between Toronto and Vancouver on the west coast. In addition to the two jets described above, 4 other E195-E2s have already been delivered to Porter.
The airline intends to deploy the E195-E2s to popular business and leisure destinations in Canada, the United States, Mexico and the Caribbean, departing from Ottawa, Montreal, Halifax and Toronto Pearson .
