Steve Nash is no longer the head coach of the Brooklyn Nets. The New York franchise has reached an agreement with the Canadian for an amicable exit. This information was provided by journalist Adrian Wojnarowski, from ESPN North American. hurry, the the team started the season with a campaign below expectations adding two wins and five losses.

In a statement, Nets general manager Sean Marks thanked Nash. “We would like to thank Steve for all he has brought to our franchise over the past two seasons. Since becoming head coach, Nash has faced many unprecedented challenges and we are sincerely grateful for his leadership, his patience and his humility throughout his tenure. We agree, so what a change is needed at this point,” Marks said.

On Twitter, Nash was also grateful for the experience. “[…] It was an amazing experience with many challenges for which I am very grateful. It was a pleasure to work with the players on a daily basis. Special thanks also to the entire technical committee for its professionalism. Finally, thanks to the fanatical Brooklyn crowd. My family and I love being part of this community,” wrote the Canadian.

He led the Nets through 161 regular season games, with 94 wins and 67 losses. In the playoffs, he qualified for the 2020/2021 semi-finals and found himself swept in the first round of last season by the Boston Celtics, totaling seven wins and two eliminations.

Udoka appears as a likely replacement

According to Wojnarowski, Ex-Celtics coach Ime Udoka emerges as favorite to take over as Nets coach. He is suspended for a year in Boston after having a relationship with a franchise employee and is still “leaning” in the NBA. During his rookie year in charge, Udoka led the Celtics to second place last season. Former Utah Jazz coach Quin Snyder is another Brooklyn prospect. For now, assistant Jacque Vaughn will be the interim coach of the Nets, who play this Tuesday (1), against the Chicago Bulls, in New York.
