Setur-BA incentive attracts sports tourism events to Bahia – VoeNews – Notícias do Turismo

Almost 300 athletes from Bahia, Sergipe, Minas Gerais, São Paulo and Tocantins participated, last Saturday (18), in the Mountain Races event, in Igatu, district of the municipality of Andaraí, in the Chapada Diamantina tourist area. It was one of the stages of the North-North-East championship of the category, which was sponsored by the State Secretariat for Tourism (Setur-BA)

The runners took different routes, the shortest being 7 kilometers and the longest 43 kilometers. They crossed several natural attractions in the region, such as the Rosinha waterfall, the Piaba river and the Madalena well. “Sports tourism has developed in Bahia, largely thanks to state support for this segment. We use the potential of Chapada to attract athletes. They competed on Saturday and had Sunday free to hang out with their families,” explained event organizer Wellington Camandaroba.

João Guimarães came from São Paulo, for the fourth time, to participate in the competition in Bahia. “I even participated in races in the Atacama desert, in Chile, but racing in Igatu is very difficult, there is no equal. I always come with my wife and we also enjoy the attractions. After Igatu, we will stay a few days in Rio de Contas”.

Chapada Diamantina is made up of 41 municipalities, which offer many rural, gastronomic and sporting experiences. The region won first place among places to visit in Brazil in 2022, according to a survey by travel platform Melhores Destinos.

Coast – Another sports tourism event sponsored by Setur-BA is the Bahia Jet Tour, created by the vice-world champion of jet ski, Bruno Jacob de Bahia. The start was given last weekend for an unprecedented course along the coast of the State, until next Saturday (25). After leaving Mangue Seco and passing through Barra do Jacuípe and Salvador, the riders will face Itacaré, Comandatuba, Porto Seguro, Alcobaça and Nova Viçosa. Also during the weekend, the Cavalgada do Almada, in Almadina, on the Costa do Cacau, also benefited from the support of the secretariat.
