Even without having entered the court in recent weeks, Serbian tennis player Novak Djokovic has regained the lead in this Monday’s update (3). He again overthrew the Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz, with whom he took turns at the top in recent months. Alcaraz dropped to second place.
Djokovic regained the lead after the Spanish rival failed to defend last week’s points won at last year’s Masters 1000 in Miami. Winner in 2022, this season he was eliminated in the semi-finals. With the discount, he was overtaken by the Serb by 380 points.
Another highlight on the list is Russian Daniil Medvedev. He is the tennis player who has won the most matches in the year so far and the one who has lifted the most trophies. There have been four so far: Rotterdam, Doha, Dubai and Miami. The title obtained on Sunday (2), in the United States, earned the Russian one more place in the Top 10 and reached fourth place. He is already at the top of the ranking of the year, which defines the qualifiers for the ATP finals at the end of the season.
Russian Andrey Rublev (one place) and Italian Jannik Sinner (two) also climbed, second in Miami. Norwegian Casper Ruud and Canadian Felix Auger-Aliassime lost one position each. Pole Hubert Hurkacz loses three positions and leaves the Top 10.
Brazilian Thiago Monteiro retained 81st place. Felipe Meligeni Alves jumped 14 positions and now appears 150th. Among the other Brazilians, Thiago Wild and Matheus Pucinelli arrive just after, in 230th and 288th positions.
Feminine
Polish Iga Swiatek completed a year at the top of the WTA, even without entering the court in Miami. The Top 10 had only two changes. The Greek Maria Sakkari and the Czech Petra Kvitova respectively gained one and two places. Holder of two titles at Wimbledon, the Czech tennis player has returned to the Top 10.
Among the Brazilians, Beatriz Haddad Maia retained 14th place. In doubles, she and Luisa Stefani won one spot each. Bia appears in 20th place, while Luisa is in 27th.
