Eduardo Riedel and Minister Simone Tebet received Nutrien representatives in Brasilia
The Canadian company Nutrien, the world’s leading supplier of agricultural inputs and services, is planning investments in the Greater Dourados region. The intention was adopted this Thursday (9) during a meeting of representatives of the multinational with Governor Eduardo Riedel and the Minister of Planning and Budget, Simone Tebet. The meeting was held at the ministry’s headquarters in Brasilia.
The company already operates in retail in Mato Grosso do Sul and other Brazilian states. Riedel stressed the importance of tax reform, at the federal level, to increase investment in Brazil and Mato Grosso do Sul. “Canadian businessmen who have come here are investing in Brazil, they are investing in Mato Grosso do Sul. And the minister was very happy to put businessmen on the path to a government that seeks growth and development. I spoke a lot and she repeated today the tax reform, perhaps a definitive step to unlock Brazil’s growth,” he said.
Still according to the governor, the businessmen expressed their optimism. “Businessmen liked it very much and felt the conviction, the determination that exists in the institutional course of Brazil to offer them legal certainty and conditions to invest more and more here, (…) so, we let’s leave motivated, with renewed energy, watching the capital arrive, invest, and that’s what we need to generate employment opportunities and income, which, combined with an education and training project for the ‘State, allows to find these opportunities with the needs of the people’.
The Minister of Planning and Budget, Simone Tebet, reinforced her commitment to Mato Grosso do Sul and also stressed that the tax reform will help attract more investment to Brazil. “Nutrien already has investments in Brazil and Mato Grosso do Sul and shows interest in investing even more and generating jobs and income for the people of the state. For my part, it was up to me to explain what they had come to hear: that the institutions are strong, that we have and will approve a tax reform that will give them all the comfort they need to invest, that we will guarantee, through legislation and incentives, the conditions so that they can invest in Mato Grosso do Sul, in the Greater Dourados region, and generate jobs and income for the population,” he concluded.
Also attending the meeting were Secretaries Eduardo Rocha (Casa Civil) and Jaime Verruck (Environment, Development, Science, Technology and Innovation), Nutrien Global CEO Ken Seitz; Chief Financial Officer, Pedro Farah; Nutrien Global Retail President Jeff Tarsi; Nutrien Latin America CEO André Dias and directors Noralee Bradley and Catharina Pires, also of Nutrien.
