The escape of a dog during a Latin connection caused the runway to be closed Congonhas Airportat southern area of São Paulo, around 1:30 p.m. this Wednesday (19). The animal was still being sought at the end of the afternoon.
According to the airline, the incident occurred when flight LA3029 (Cuiabá-São Paulo) landed and the puppy would follow on LA3080 (São Paulo-Florianópolis).

According to an airport employee’s report, the animal ran to the yard of the plane. Pilots preparing to take off were told to wait for help. An emergency alert would have been issued.
In a note late Wednesday afternoon, Latam said he deeply regrets what happened and is working with search teams around the airport to find the pup.
The airline confirmed that the Congonhas runway was due to be closed for a few minutes, but that operations had already returned to normal.
Asked to say how long the runway had been closed and how many flights were affected, Infraero, Congonhas manager, did not return until the publication of this report.
At the end of last year, the pooch Pandora disappeared during a connection at Guarulhos International Airport, in Greater São Paulo. The animal was only found 45 days later and returned to its owner on January 30.
Pandora was en route from Recife to Navegantes (SC) when she escaped from the transport box – mandatory for this type of trip – and disappeared during a Gol flight on December 15.
During this period, the guardian mobilized on social networks and benefited from legal support and support from groups looking for the puppy.
At the time, Gol indicated that he never failed to provide assistance and that he regretted the incident. He also said that after the case he took a series of measures to try to find Pandora.
This is the second time this month that Congonhas has suffered a track closure due to an incident. On the 9th, the main Congonhas runway was blocked for about nine hours after one of the tires of a business jet burst.
The accident had a ripple effect on major airports across the country. A total of 230 flights had to be canceled from Sunday (9) to Monday (10), when the concourse recorded long queues and waits of up to four hours.
Congonhas was auctioned in August. The only competitor, the Spanish company Aena, bought the airport and ten other terminals for 2.45 billion reais.
Residents of nearby neighborhoods went to court unsuccessfully to try to stop the auction, fearing the number of take-offs and landings would increase.
