A possible return? Sebastian Giovinco trains with the Toronto FC team

Giovinco, 36, trained this week at the BMO Rookie Camp with Toronto FC.

During Toronto FC’s training week, something new caught the attention of the sports press. Five years after his time at TFC, Sebastian Giovinco is doing extensive training at the BMO Training Ground. The images were shared by TFC Republic’s John Molinaro. Could the atomic ant be back on the Canadian team?

At this week’s press conference, interim coach Terry Dunfield confirmed that Giovinco had been included in the team’s training this week, but did not comment on a likely contract signing.

According to MLS rules and regulations, the league’s roster freeze deadline is next Friday, September 15. In the meantime, anything can happen. Giovinco played for TFC between 2015 and 2018, scoring 83 goals and 57 assists. Additionally, he was the 2017 MLS Cup champion by defeating the Seattle Sounders 2-0. Last season, he suffered a lot from calf injuries, which ruled him out of several matches with Sampdoria. Today, at 36, the athlete is without a club.
