The State of Acre has established itself as one of the country’s attics in terms of bodybuilding! The biggest Brazilian name in the sport is Ramon Dino, who in November in Orlando, United States, will try to displace the throne from the four-time champion, Canadian Chris Bumstead – C-Bum. And this Sunday (29), lightning fell in the same place during the Mr. Olympia Brasil Expo 2023 competition with the victory of Everson Costta from Acre in the general Classical Physics category.
At the event held at Pro Magno, in São Paulo (SP), Everson Costta beat favorites Julio Gorila and Junior Javorski and won the chance to defend the country at the World Mr. Olympia in 2024.
Everson Costta is 30 years old and comes from the town of Plácido de Castro, in the interior of Acre, and has been professional in this sport for only a year. ”Like Ramon, I won the spot to compete at the World Mr. Olympia next year. I am an Acreian with a cracked foot and I will carry the name of my state and my country to the entire planet. Next year I will be in the USA to compete alongside him and also with C-Bum.
The Classic Physique athlete demonstrated a surprising level of conditioning for a competitor who has only just arrived on the professional scene. Everson Costta obtained one of the Pro Cards for the 2022 edition of Mr. Olympia Brasil.
“If I managed to get here today, it’s because I worked hard, even without the conditions. But I’m not going to victimize myself. Everyone in this battle has to fight to get here and win. Get over yourself,” said Everson Costta of Acre.
Classical physics is currently the most prestigious sport category in the world and many athletes, like Ramon Dino himself and C-Bum, have millionaire salaries, comparable to those of football players. In addition to sponsorships, top Mr. Olympia competitors have a large following on social media, showing off their lifestyle and training.
”in 2024, we organized the biggest events in the history of Brazilian bodybuilding. The first was Arnold in April and now Mr. Olympia. We didn’t grow anymore because we didn’t have physical space. That’s why we will go to Complexo do Anhembi in 2024. I never imagined that bodybuilding athletes would be idols, just like football players,” said Ana Paula Graziano Leal, CEO of Savaget Promoções e Eventos , organizer of Mr. Olympia in collaboration with Musclecontest.
More than 1,300 bodybuilders of different ages participated in the Mr. Olympia Brasil Expo 2023, in São Paulo (SP), divided into several categories, including Women’s Physique, Figure, Wellness, Bikini, Bodybuilding and Men’s Physique. Three Pro cards were distributed per category, for a total of 12 in total.
In addition to the sports competition, a show presenting the main new products and services from the world of bodybuilding welcomed 60 brands. More than 23,000 people were present on site. Number 20% higher than 2023.
According to Ana Paula Graziano Leal, a turnover of 55 million reais was achieved during the three days of the fair.
