In May, Canadian Courtney Monteith went viral on TikTok when she recounted her experience with a tattoo artist who made a different sketch than she requested and still charged US$2,600 (R$12,800 ). With the repercussions, she received offers from several professionals to get a tattoo, and accepted one of them. Now, he’s returned to share his story on the network — this time, with a happy ending.
During the previous attempt to get the tattoo he wanted – a fox surrounded by flowers – Monteith had had problems with the design offered by the hired professional. In the video on the case, she showed that the sketch was quite different from what she had requested. The tattoo artist, in turn, was charging a higher amount to make changes and was refusing a refund for what she had already paid.
Monteith told the Initiated that he didn’t expect to get anything for free and just wanted to share his frustration with his friends. Before posting the video, she had 200 subscribers. Today there are more than 40 thousand. “I had no idea people would buy into my experience,” she said.
She says she received several offers from professionals interested in getting the tattoo she wanted. Eventually, she decided to accept the proposal of Matt Vaught, a professional whose work she already admired. She traveled from Canada to the United States for treatment.
Monteith shared his journey and images of the tattoo in progress on social media. In the caption, he called the moment a “happy ending.” Since Thursday (1/6), when it was posted online, the video has had nearly 400,000 views.
In a video posted to his profile, the professional said getting a tattoo amid such repercussions brought added pressure, as he didn’t want to disappoint.
” We did it ! Tears and laughter were shared, trust was restored, and the power of good prevailed over evil. At least, that’s how I felt,” he said. Uploaded Thursday (1/6), the tattoo artist’s video has already reached over 900,000 views.
