Ana and Duda beat Canadians in even match to win beach volleyball gold in Paris

Brazil beat Canada this Friday afternoon (9) by 2 sets to 1 and won the gold medal in Beach Volleyball at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

IT’S A GOLD MEDAL! Brazil beat Canada this Friday afternoon (9) by 2 sets to 1 and won the gold medal in beach volleyball at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. Duda and Ana Patrícia played a balanced match against Melissa and Brandie, but in the tie-break they won. 3pm-10am at the Eiffel Tower Arena.

THE GAME

The match started in an eventful and even manner, until the Canadians took a five-point lead, 7-2. The Brazilians tried to score with Duda getting up and Ana sending the ball to the ground, trying to even the score again. When Ana’s blocking started to work, it started to improve, with the Canadian duo 14-11. Almost 30 minutes after the opening whistle, with an ace from Duda, the Brazilians took the lead on the scoreboard for the first time in the match, 18-17 for Brazil, which increased and in a rally to see who would close, after four set points for Brazil, Ana and Duda managed to close by 26-24. An excellent first set, contested until the end.

In the second set, Canada opened the score 3-1, but Ana and Duda tied it 3-3 thanks to a kick and an assist from Brandie, who missed the serve. The Canadians were one point ahead, with Brazil tied. They took the lead and their opponents tied. A beautiful match worthy of a final, even with reception errors from both pairs in some parts of the match, a well-balanced exchange. Until Melissa managed to connect with Brandie and they opened a 15-11 lead until they closed the second set at 21-12. Tied the match at 1-1.

In the tie-break, Brazil took the lead, opening a three-point lead, until it was 10-5, a difference of five points. Dudley and Ana with the heavier hand, going up. When the score was 12-7 for Brazil, there was a little confusion between Ana Patrícia and Brandie, a yellow card for each. And in the end, the Brazilians won 15 to 10, closing the tie-break and winning the gold medal in Paris.
