On the social network Twitter, Boric called the meeting he had with Antony Blinken “a very good conversation”, during which there were demonstrations of harmony on issues related to the environment, trade and the situation in Venezuela.

During the joint press conference with Antonia Urrejola, Blinken said “ways to increase American investment” in Chile are being explored, especially in the area of ​​green energy, as the South American country has shows “leadership” in the fight against climate change. crisis.

Blinken’s response came after he was asked if Chile’s ongoing constitutional process could affect investment intentions, with the US diplomat saying it was not his responsibility to comment on policy Chilean, because this is a matter that only concerns the Chilean people, but noting that “there are enormous business and investment opportunities” in the country

“The reaction is already strong in terms of trade and investment, but we are convinced that it can still grow and strengthen”, he underlined.

Chile is currently in the process of creating a new Constitution to repeal the current one, which dates from the time of dictator Augusto Pinochet, after the failure of the September 4 constitutional referendum.

On this same subject, the Chilean minister assured that the government “is working very hard” to be able to attract investment from several countries, citing as an example the visits of President Boric to Canada and the USA, as well as the negotiations to renew the agreement. trade with the European Union.
