Argentinian police investigate Canadian tourist’s fall at Iguazu Falls | west and southwest

Argentinian police are investigating the disappearance of a 58-year-old Canadian tourist at Iguazu Falls. The incident was recorded on the Argentinian side of the falls, in the city of Puerto Iguazú, around 11 a.m. last Monday (17).

According to an investigation by the State Police of Misiones, the man was in a hotel near Iguazú National Park and asked for a taxi to get to the falls.

According to testimonies collected so far, the tourist climbed the parapet of the walkway and fell. Then he disappeared.

It all happened, according to the police, at the height of Salto Bosetti Lookout – one of the falls of the Iguazu Falls on the Argentinian side.

On Tuesday (18), firefighters from Foz do Iguaçu, in western Paraná, located the body of a man in the Iguaçu River, near the Tancredo Neves bridge, on the border with Argentina.

Argentinian authorities have been notified and are investigating whether the body belongs to the missing tourist.

Until the publication of this report, the body had not been identified at the Instituto Médico-Legal (IML) in Foz do Iguaçu.

In a statement, Iguazú National Park said the matter is under police investigation and that “out of respect for those connected to the event and not to disrupt investigations, no statements will be made. done for now.”
