Monte Verde, the charming town located less than 180 km from the capital of São Paulo, is the perfect refuge to enjoy the days of this season, sunny in the morning and cool in the afternoon and evening. Temperatures are beginning to warm, attracting tourists who enjoy the great outdoors and breathe in the fresh air.

An invitation to get out of the routine amidst the greenery of the Serra da Mantiqueira, Fazenda Radical offers attractions for the whole family, from activities like tree climbing, horseback riding and archery to more radical options, like the zip line – the biggest in the district, with 1050 meters long -, mountain bike ride and climbing wall. The space is open daily from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. All activities can be purchased on the website and do not require an appointment, with the exception of the quadricycle.

Round Stone Trail

Monte Verde’s most popular trail, the Pedra Redonda trail, located inside Verner Grinberg Park, has a lookout in the middle and a low degree of difficulty compared to other trails in the area. Access to the trail is only permitted with the commitment of an agency.

If you want to enjoy the cold in Monte Verde, you don’t have to trust the weather forecast. The right choice is to visit the Ice Bar, where you can have a drink at -15ºC. The place, all in ice, already attracts attention by itself, giving good photos in a freezing climate.

Mont-Vert Avenue

Bringing together the main gastronomic and commercial options of Monte Verde, the main avenue, which bears the name of the district, is an ideal place to stroll day and night. You can register the low temperatures on the local thermometer, buy typical products in the small shops of the galleries or taste the typical specialties of Monte Verde. In the restaurants there are from the typical Minas Gerais menu to the famous festivals of German fondues, pastas and delicacies, as well as beers.

Where to stay

Two hostels stand out for their privileged location and also for their structure in Monte Verde, with cabins with stunning views and relaxing hot tubs.

Pousada Pedras and Sonhos (Pedrasesonhos.com.br), for example, is ideal for couples and has seven chalets with one of the best views of the hills in town. Breakfast is one of the highlights. It is served from 8:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. and has more than 35 dishes. The location is close to Parque Oschin and offers easy access to other major tourist attractions in the destination.

Close to Avenida Monte Verde, where the main local attractions are, Pousada Jardim da Mantiqueira(pousadajardimdamantiqueira.com.br/) is very close to the main local bars and restaurants and is home to 19 chalets. Some of them are equipped with a hot tub overlooking a lush Araucaria forest. Completely handmade breakfast, the property is ideal for families and couples.

shiver (@fritz.monteverde), a craft brewery in Monte Verde, offers a tour of the factory with the master brewer, in addition to a menu with delicacies inspired by German cuisine.

Pizzeria Napoli

Located on Avenida Monte Verde, the pizzeria (restaurantenapoles.com.br/) offers special flavors like Napoli, with Canadian loin, buffalo mozzarella, hearts of palm and house-dried tomatoes; and the escondidinho version, with cured meat, onion, garlic, tomato, catupiry and mozzarella.

Bodega do Chicao

The Bodega do Chicao restaurant (bodegadochicao.com.br/) is typical of the mountains and offers a menu of homemade pasta, risotto, trout and meat.
