Brazilian beach volleyball won two gold medals at the Pan American Games in Santiago, Chile. This Friday, the duos Duda and Ana Patrícia and André and George were champions of the sport, breaking a 12-year fast in which the country was not represented on the highest place on the podium of a Pan, from Guadalajara, Mexico, in 2011.
Duda and Ana Patrícia beat the Canadians Melissa and Brandie in the final, by 2 sets to 0, partial scores of 22/20 and 21/18. André and George kept the excitement going until the tiebreaker in the men’s final. Against Alayo and Diaz, from Cuba, the Brazilians won by 2 sets to 1, with scores of 21/12, 19/21 and 15/13. The match had an atmosphere of revenge, as the Brazilian duo had lost to the Cubans in the group stage of the Games.
