Brazil finishes Peru Badminton Open with three medals

Today, the 24th, Peruvian Badminton Open. The competition brought together 9 Brazilians, present in all categories and who returned home with three medals, one silver and two bronze, all in the double categories.

The first medal fell yesterday, at mixed doubles, with Davi Silva/Sania Lima. They lost to Canadians Ty Alexander Lindeman/Josephine Wu 2-1, split 15-21, 21-18, 16-21. Since there is no competition for third place in badminton, the Canadians went to the final and the Brazilians won bronze.

Also yesterday, another defeat for the Canadians meant a bronze medal for the Brazilians. Fabrício Farias/Davi Silva were beaten by Kevin Lee/Ty Alexander Lindeman, in the men’s doubles. Splits of 21-10 and 21-14 for the Canadians.

But in ladies doubles The Brazilians Jaqueline Lima/Samia Lima took their revenge on Canada by winning 2-1 against Catherine Choi/Josephine Wu. This highly contested match included splits of 23-25, 21-18 and 21-13. This triumph qualified the Brazilians for the final played today.

Unfortunately, in the final, the Americans Annie Xu/Kerry Xu were superior and beat them 2-0, with scores of 21-11 and 21-10. The Brazilians won silver.
