Brazil once again performed well in fencing, winning the gold medal in women’s team fencing. In women’s epee, Brazil, comprised of Amanda Simeão, Nathalie Moellhausen and Victoria Vizeu, won the gold medal after beating the Canadian team 45-40 in the big decider. It was the first time Brazil won a medal in women’s epee in history, as well as being the first gold medal in fencing in Pans since 1967.

Brazil were always on top in the final, with Moellhausen, Simeão and Vizeu controlling the match well. Canada was still looking for a reaction, but it wasn’t enough, Brazil managed to reach 45 hits first, and with a five advantage over the Canadians.

Before the decisive duel to reach the final, Brazil beat Colombia 45 to 34 and Venezuela 45 to 35. The Venezuelan team won bronze by beating Mexico 45 to 42.

In the men’s sabre, we did not have a medal. The team formed by Enrico Pezzi, Bruno Pekelman, Pedro Marostega, Fábio Salles and Henrique Garrigos lost in the first fight against the Colombian team by 45 to 24. Then, without hope of medals, another defeat, this time against the Mexico by 45 to 37. In the fight for seventh place, Brazil beat hosts Chile 45 to 30.
