Punta del Este (Uruguay) – The first ITF J200 event in Punta del Este brought positive results for several young Brazilians, who are looking for important points in the world ranking of the category.
The women’s group won five times. Starting with head 1 Olívia Carneiro, who beat the Colombian Sara Verastegui by 6/3 and 6/1. She faces the Chilean Martina Pavissich. On the same side of the table, Sofia Perovani beat the Mexican Natalia Salazar 6/0 and 6/2 and faces the Dominican Anna Maria Fedotova.
In the other half, Sthefany de Lima beat Colombian Maria José Uribe. The 16-year-old, who already has points in the professional rankings, collecting donations to stay informed. His next rival is the Argentinian Sol Larraya. Gabriela Cho and Paola Dalmônico also advanced. This Monday, Cho beat the Argentinian Mora Carrocera by double 6/1, confirming the duel with the Bolivian Natalia Trigosso. Dalmónico beat Colombian Diana Lizarazo by 6/3 and 6/0. Her next rival is Canadian Naomi Xu, seeded 2nd.
Among the men, the favorite Pedro Rodrigues beat the Chilean Francisco Duran 6/0 and 6/3 and will face the Italian Vito Antonio Darderi. In the same quadrant, Luis Felipe Sandoval beat the Uruguayan Lucio Garrone and faces the Argentinian Valentin Garay. The number 3 seed, Gustavo Almeida, was leading 4/1 in the first set against Uruguayan Facundo Paysse when his rival retired. His next rival could be Davi Carlos or Argentinian Ian Vertberger. Victor Pagotto beat the Uruguayan Juan Blanco 6/1 and 6/3 and faces the Argentinian Romeo Arcuschin.
During the first, João Lago, Enzo Kohlmann, Henrique de Brito, Cecilia Costa, Gabriela Felix and Luana Paiva fell.
Victoria Barros is 7th in Austria
Victoria Barros, 13, from Rio Grande do Norte, is the only Brazilian in the ITF J100 category in Maria-Lanzendorf, Austria. Currently 364th in the rankings, Victoria is seeded 7th in the event and advances directly to the second round. She made her debut against German Louanne Djafari, 16, ranked 846th. If she wins, she could face the Swede Isabella Svahn or the Slovenian Lija Mumlek.
