Between September 20 and 24, the Peruvian Badminton Open. The competition has 9 Brazilians who started today. Brazil has athletes in all categories, but not all of them played today (09/21).
In the category singles gentlemen, Jonathan Matias beat the Mexican Armando Gaitan 2-0 (double split 21-13) and took the stage, where on the same day he faced the Canadian Victor Lai. Unfortunately Jonathan did not confirm his favoritism and lost 2-0 (double split 21-15). With the defeat, the Brazilian is eliminated.
In the same category, Davi Silva fought courageously, but was beaten by the group favorite, Guatemalan Kevin Cordon, 2-0 (20-22 and 12-21). With this defeat we no longer have representatives in this category.
At ladies singles We had no luck with the change. Brazilian Samia Lima faced top seed Wen Yu Zhang of Canada. Wen Yu won 2-0 (shares of 21-11 and 21-10). Samia was the only Brazilian in the individual event.
Already there men’s doubles, Fabrício Farias/Davi Silva easily beat the Peruvian duo Gonzalo Salazar/Jose Chirinos 2-0 (21-7 and 21-9). With this victory, they took the stage and will face the American duo Vinson Chiu/Joshua Yuan tomorrow.
The tournament of ladies doubles will start tomorrow. And Brazilians Jaqueline Lima/Samia Lima will face hosts Sofia Vasquez/Carla Bernales.
Finally in mixed doubles, two Brazilian pairs took action. Davi Silva/Sania Lima easily beat Adriano Aguirre/Fernanda Rivva, Peruvians, 2-0 (21-9 and 21-14). Tomorrow the Brazilians return to the courts to face the English duo Marcus Ellis/Lauren Smith.
Fabrício Farias/Jaqueline Lima defeated their Peruvian compatriots Marcelo Aservi/Shary Yanque 2-0 with scores of 21-5 and 21-9. Tomorrow they face another Peruvian pair, Sharum Cardenas/Namie Tsukazan.
