This weekend the stage of Saint Martain Colombia, Americas Sprint Triathlon Championship. The competition took place with the participation of main athletes of the continent and was well followed by Brazilian delegationwho placed the athletes in the Top 15 of the competition, both among men, with Gabriel Lechetaas well as in the feminine, with Giovanna Lacerda.
Giovanna was the only Brazilian representative in the women’s competition. She crossed the finish line in 15th position, with a time of 01:05:13, after starting the race well and fluctuating a lot along the way, Giovanna found herself far from the first places. The race was won by American Gina Sereno, with a time of 01:01:44, followed by Canadian Emy Legault, eighteen seconds behind. The podium was completed by Argentina’s Romina Bagioli, who finished the race with a time of 01:02:13.
Among the men, Gabriel Lecheta was the best placed Brazilian. He crossed the finish line with a time of 00:55:05 and secured the 12th position in the race. The other athletes from the country competing were Matheus Diniz (22nd), Matheus Martinhaki (26th), Felipe Bianchi (29th), Yago Alves (36th) and Thiago Gomide (46th).
The men’s race was won by Matthew Wright of Barbados, who secured the top spot on the podium by crossing the finish line in a time of 00:53:46. He was followed by the American Chase McQueen, eight seconds behind, and by the third, the Mexican David Nuñes, who finished the race with a time of 00:54:10.
The Brazilian delegation is now preparing for the stage of the Copa América de Triathlon, which will be held in Manta, Ecuador, on September 16, next Saturday.
