Canada were beaten by Croatia on Sunday and are eliminated from the World Cup in Qatar. With the 4-1 loss, the Canadian team continues without scoring in the World Cup, but scores its first goal at the feet of Alphonso Davies.

The goal came in the first minute of the match, when Tajon Buchanan made a precise cross for Alphonso Davies to arrive with a header and make history. The Bayern Munich left winger, who plays more advanced in the national team, scored the first goal in Canadian history at the World Cup.

In Qatar, the Canadian national team is participating in the World Cup for only the second time. The last appearance dates back to 1986, during the World Cup in Mexico. In this competition, Canada lost all three group stage matches and did not qualify for the knockout stage.

Canada qualified for the Qatar World Cup as CONCACAF qualifying leaders. The team finished ahead of Mexico and the United States, securing a direct World Cup spot after 36 years.

In the last round of the group stage of the Cup, the Canadian team will face Morocco, this Thursday, from 12h (Brasilia time), at the Al Thumama stadium.
