Canadian journalist and presenter Lisa Laflamme, one of Canada’s biggest names in journalism, has been fired after deciding to embrace gray hair and stop dyeing his hair blonde. Lisa made the decision during the pandemic and she currently has gray hair. “At 58, I still thought I had a lot more time to tell more stories that impact our daily lives,” LaFlamme said.
In a statement, Bell Media President Mirko Bibic said Lisa’s hair color was not the reason she left the station, but rather a staff adjustment. However, a report by the journalist Poppy Harlow, of CNN, claimed that the reasons were ageism (prejudice related to age), sexism and the fact that the journalist assumed her gray hair. Also according to Harlow, an inside information reveals that “the big shots did not like to see a gray-haired woman in charge of the newspaper”.

The journalist had been with Bell Media for 30 years, the last 11 being as a presenter. On her Twitter, Lisa expressed outrage at the situation, saying it was “crushing to leave CTV against her will.”
After the resignation of the presenter, a movement in her favor grew stronger. Some companies around the world have campaigned against the harm suffered by the journalist. Wendy’s, a traditional American fast food company, replaced the iconic red-haired girl in its logo with a gray-haired girl:
