With 1.88 meters, the politician appears standing, his legs a little apart to be at the height of the president of the Korean National Assembly, Kim Jin-pyo, who, according to the local press, is about 1.70 meters .
Before heading to the G7 meeting in Japan, Trudeau, accompanied by a delegation of ministers, traveled to Seoul to celebrate the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries and sign economic agreements.
Before delivering a speech at the Korean National Assembly on Wednesday (17), the Canadian posed for photos with local politicians.
When they shake hands, Kim, during the clicks of the photographers, stood on tiptoe play with the difference of almost 20 centimeters in the heights of the two leaders.
The Canadian reacted with good mood and if lowered a little. Kim then bowed on tiptoe, then Trudeau momentarily open your legs a little while shaking hands with the South Korean so that they are at the same height.
The unusual scene caused laughter between the two politicians and those present.
Overall, the Korean press is full of praise for Trudeau’s gesture. The Chosun channel called the scene “heartbreaking” and broadcaster YTN suggested the Canadian prime minister had a “caring mentality”.
Conservative Canadian newspaper True North, however, reported that Trudeau again played in what it called “embarrassing moments” abroad.
