Canadian rapper Smoke Dawg was shot and killed outside a nightclub in Toronto on Saturday evening (30). He was 21 years old. The information was revealed by the local press.
Dawg was considered a revelation on the Canadian scene and opened for his compatriot Drake, who lamented the news on his Instagram. “It’s devastating that all these gifts, lights and blessed souls are being extinguished in recent times. I would like peace to wash our city. So much talent and so many stories that we never see. Rest assured, Smoke,” the rapper wrote in his stories.
The musician’s death comes just two weeks after another murder rocked the United States. Considered one of the most promising names in American rap, XXXTentacion was shot and killed in Miami at the age of 20.
According to CP24 News, Dawg was transported to a local hospital, but died of his injuries. There was unrest at the time of the shooting, due to the high concentration of people in the street due to Canada Day. Two other spectators were shot dead.
Toronto Mayor John Tory said those involved were either out on bail or gang members.
Smoke Dawg released what would be his final music video, “Fountain Freestyles,” five days ago.
