Actress Samantha Weinstein of Carriehas died, aged 28, after a two-and-a-half-year battle with ovarian cancer, according to information originally published by the Canadian news site World News.
According to the publication, Samantha died on May 14, but the passing has only now been confirmed by father David Weinstein, who paid tribute to his daughter.
“Sam was actually the living embodiment of a ray of sunshine. She was so full of positive energy that anyone who knew her would say she lit up every room she walked into,” he said.
Samantha played high school student Heather in the 2013 remake of Carriewith Chloe Grace Moretz and Julianne Moore.
