Netflix will exclusively release the long-awaited sequel to the sci-fi movie Code 8. Tagged Code 8: Part II, here’s what you can expect from the new movie and everything else we know.
Starting life as a short on YouTube, a possible feature film was released in 2019, but it wasn’t until it hit Netflix in April 2020 that the film took off, spending more than two weeks in the US top 10 onlyπ§π·
Riding on this new success, a The TV series has been ordered for the now-defunct streaming service Quibi, and of course, a sequel film which is the subject of this preview.
No Netflix release date has been set for Code 8: Part II, although it should arrive in 2024.
Netflix announced it had acquired the Code 8 sequel in June 2021. Ted Sarandos announced the news as part of his main screening at the Banff World Media Festival, marking Netflix’s first original acquisition of Canadian English features.
XYZ movies are behind the sequel and also serves as producer/distributor behind Netflix I came and Devastation, expected release in 2024.
Canadian production company Collective Pictures is behind the film, which is the production company headed by Jeff Chan. PLAYFIGHT visual effects works on VFX titles.
Chris Pare, Jeff Chanπ§π· Sherren Leeand Jesse La Vercombe serve as writers in the sequel.

The sequel’s main synopsis was given during the initial announcement:
βAfter witnessing the murder of her brother and the ensuing cover-up, a teenage girl with abnormal abilities seeks help from a former convict (Robbie Amell) and his former partner in crime (Stephen Amell). Together they take on a unit of rogue cops who use advanced robotic technology to avoid exposure.
A slightly different synopsis has since been provided:
“A teenage girl, struggling to get justice for her brother killed at the hands of corrupt cops, becomes a target and brings in an ex-con and his former accomplice. Together, they face off against a well-respected and well-protected police sergeant who will use all the tools to avoid being exposed.

Where was the filming shot Code 8: Part II and when did production start and end?
After the initial announcement, production on the film took place over two months, between October and December 2022.
By Specification the title filmed much of it in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada in November 2021, saying:
“Code 8: Part II” was filmed on West Mountain near West 5th Street and Fennell Avenue West.
He had set up base camp last week in a Stelco parking lot at Gage Avenue North and Burlington Street East. This was likely to film scenes at Skylight Steelworks, a joint art/film location between Skylight USA Studios and the Stelco on Wilcox Street in the Hilton Works.
Robbie Amell posted on Instagram when production started and the jokes referenced the weather, saying, “I hope part 3 is warmer.”
In August 2022, Robbie Amell posted that they had just screened the film (shown an early version of the film to a small audience for reaction etc.), say in the captionπ§π·
“Our first screening of Code 8 Part II – the movie looks awesome. Rob and I brought our moms…we both stayed awake.
