Electoral justice received at least 28,000 registrations of candidates for the October elections. The campaign officially starts this Tuesday (16).
Twelve candidates for the presidency and 12 for the vice-presidency were received; 223 for governor and vice-governor, 231 for senator, 10,238 for federal deputy, 16,161 for state deputy and 591 for district deputy.
In the Federal District, 12 candidates are running for the post of governor. Check out the full list:
Colonel Moreno (PTB): 50 years old, born in Brasilia, he is an officer of the military police and this is the first time he has presented himself as governor of the Federal District (DF). The running mate is lawyer Luiz Gustavo Pereira da Cunha, 44.
Ibaneis Rocha (MDB): 51 years old, born in Brasília, he is a lawyer and current governor of the Federal District (DF). He holds a law degree from the Centro de Ensino Unificado de Brasília (Ceub), a postgraduate degree in Labor Procedural Law and Civil Procedural Law. He chaired the Brazilian Bar Association of the Federal District (OAB-DF) between 2007 and 2010. In 2018, he made his political debut as a candidate for the government of the Federal District (DF) and won the elections to the second round. The deputy on the ticket is the federal deputy Celina Leão (PP-DF), 45 years old.
Izalci (PSDB): Aged 66, he was born in Araújos (MG). He is an accountant and currently a senator for the Federal District, elected in 2018. Before entering public life, he was a trade union leader. He began his political life in 1998, when he joined the PSDB. In 2002, he was elected as a district deputy, when he was asked to assume the post of secretary of state for science and technology. In 2006, again invited, he returned to assume the Department of Science and Technology of the Federal District. In 2010, he was elected federal deputy and re-elected in 2014. He is currently chairman of the PSDB management board in the DF. The deputy on the ticket is PRTB-DF president Beth Cupertino, 69.
Keka Bagno (PSOL): 34 years old, born in Brasilia. She holds a degree in social work from the University of Brasilia and a master’s degree in public policy. He began his political life as a student activist at university. She is an activist for the rights of children, adolescents, women and black people. She is in her second term as a guardianship counselor and has worked in social movements for 15 years. In 2018, she was a candidate for the position of vice-governor by the PSOL. Toni de Castro, 49, also from PSOL, is the vice-president of the ticket.
Leandro Grass (VP): 37 years old, born in Brasilia, he is a teacher, holds a bachelor’s degree in sociology and a degree in social sciences from the University of Brasilia (UnB). He holds a Masters in Sustainable Development from the UnB Center for Sustainable Development and has worked as a researcher in the fields of sociology of development, public policy and social participation. In 2018, he was elected district deputy for the Sustainability Network. This year, he is a candidate for the post of governor of the DF by the federation PT-PCdoB-PV. Professor Olgamir Amancia (PC do B) will be vice on the plate.
Volleyball Leila (PDT): 50 years old, was born in Taguatinga-DF. She was part of the Brazilian volleyball team and is currently a senator, elected by the PDT in 2018. As an athlete, she was a bronze medalist at the 1996 Olympics (Atlanta/USA) and of 2000 (Sydney/Australia). In 1999, he received a gold medal at the Pan American Games in Canada. He played beach volleyball and was a sports commentator before beginning his political career. In 2014, she was a candidate for district deputy, but was not elected. She was secretary for Sports and Leisure from 2015 to 2018 in the government of Rodrigo Rollemberg (PSB). Leila’s deputy is also pedestrian Joe Valle, 57.
Lucas Salles (DC): was born in Campina Grande (PB). A graduate in social communication, he holds a master’s degree in marketing and has been a university professor for more than 20 years. In political life, he was already a candidate for the position of municipal councilor in his hometown, in 1992, and was also municipal secretary of Tourism. He was the official marketer for Jair Bolsonaro’s presidential campaign in 2018. The deputy on the ticket is Pastor Suelene Balduino, 60, from the same party.
Relative (PSB): Born in Brasilia, he is a professor and doctor of education at New York University. Led educational projects aimed at language teaching. In political life, he was Secretary of Education in the government of Ibaneis Rocha (MDB) and Undersecretary of Education in Rio de Janeiro under the administration of Eduardo Paes. The deputy on the plate is Professor Janaína, also from the PSB, 45 years old.
Renan Arruda (PCO): 58 years old, he was born in Iguatu, Ceará. A cancario and economist, he was a candidate for governor of the Federal District (DF) in 2018 and second deputy for the post of senator in 2010. The vice-president of the ticket is Mauro Sousa de Moura, 58, affiliated with the same acronym.
Paulo Octavio (PSD): 72 years old, was born in Lavras (MG). He is a businessman, owner of a construction company that bears his name. He holds a law degree from the Centro de Ensino Unificado de Brasília (CEUB) and is a technician in real estate transactions. He entered politics in 1990 when he joined the PRN and was elected for the first of two terms as a federal deputy. In 2002 Paulo Octávio was elected senator of the then PFL, resigned in 2006 to be vice-governor on Arruda’s ticket and temporarily assumed the DF when Arruda was impeached, but resigned a few days later lack of political support. Lawyer Luís Felipe Belmonte (PSC), 69, is the deputy on the ticket.
Robson (PSTU): 52 years old, was born in the city of Rio de Janeiro. He was a history teacher in the Federal District public school system for 22 years. He began his political activism in the student movement. He is an activist of the black movement and has already been a candidate for the position of senator of the PSTU in 2010, 2014 and 2018. He started his political activism in Rio de Janeiro and Roraima in the student movement. He was part of the founding process of the PSTU and maintains active militancy in the struggle for quality public education, participating in all strikes and mobilizations of DF teaching staff. The running mate on the ticket will be Eduardo Zanata, 36, also from the PSTU.
Teodoro da Cruz Teo (PCB): Aged 63, he was born in the town of Barreiras (BA) and has lived in the Federal District since 1975. He is a lawyer, educator and retired official of the State Department of Education. He fought in the union and popular movement. Jamil Magari is the 65-year-old candidate for lieutenant governor.
