Paralympic Connection
The Brazilian Paralympic Committee (CPB) organizes for the first time the Paralympic Connection🇧🇷 in João Pessoa (PB), between October 13 and 15. The event includes three competitions: University Paralympics, Military Paralympics and Intercentres. A total of 553 athletes are registered. The event is designed and produced by CPB, through the Sports Development Board, and this will be its first edition.
The opening ceremony is scheduled for Wednesday 13, at 10:00 a.m., at the Fundação Centro Integrado de Apoio ao Porador de Disabilities (FUNAD). On the same day, the conflicts begin, which continue until Saturday 15, in three different places: Vila Olímpica Parahyba, Instituto dos Cegos da Paraíba Adalgisa Cunha and Clube Pessoense de Tiro.
Rugby World Cup
The Brazilian wheelchair rugby team will participate in the World Wheelchair Rugby Championship, which will be held in the city of Vejle, Denmark, from October 10-16. Brazil’s debut will be against the host team, this Monday, at 5:00 p.m. (Brasilia time).
Brazil are in Group B, along with Japan, Australia, Canada, Denmark and Colombia. Seven other teams are in Group A: USA, Germany, Great Britain, New Zealand, France and Switzerland. The world title will guarantee a direct place for the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games.
Brazilian Men’s Basketball Championship in CR
O Brazilian Men’s Wheelchair Basketball Championship will take place from October 12 to 17 at the Paralympic Training Center in São Paulo. Ten teams will participate in the competition, and in the first phase they will be divided into two groups.
A group: ADD Magic Hands/SP, Andef/RJ, Gadecamp Campinas/SP, Add Magic Wheels/SP and Kings Maringá/UEM/SESP/PR.
Group B: CAD SJRP/Vetnil/SP, Adap/Aparecidense/GO, All Star Rodas/Remo/Banco da Amazônia/PA, Adfima/AL and Cenapa/MA.
The top four teams from each group will advance to the quarter-finals. The winners will advance to the semi-finals, during which the finalists will be determined. Both games will be broadcast from Facebook and Youtube of the CPB, on Sunday 16, from 9 a.m. The decision will be broadcast live on SporTV 2 next Monday 17 at 10:30 am.
Paralympic meeting Lotteries Caixa de Vitória
The Paralympic meeting Loterias Caixa arrives in Vitória (ES) next Saturday, the 15th, with athletics and swimming events at the Federal University of Espírito Santo (UFES).
This will be the 11th stage and the second in the Southeast Region of the event this year. In 2022, the Meeting has already visited ten Brazilian capitals: Campo Grande, MS), Amapa (AP)🇧🇷 Fortaleza (CE), Natal, RN)🇧🇷 João Pessoa (PB)🇧🇷 Recife PE🇧🇷 Aracaju (SE)🇧🇷 Brasilia DF)🇧🇷 Goiania (GO) and Belo Horizonte.
International Paralympic Table Tennis Open
Brazilian table tennis players have won 19 out of a possible 23 gold medals at the Paralympic International Table Tennis Open, which was held from October 7 to 9 at the Paralympic Training Center in São Paulo. Of all the tournaments played, including women’s and men’s singles and women’s, men’s and mixed doubles, in only one there was no Brazilian athlete in first or second place on the podium.
Goalball Nations Cup
Brazilian women’s goalball team won the bronze medal at Nations Cup, tournament held in Berlin, Germany, from October 7 to 9, with the participation of 14 countries. In the decision for third place, the Brazilians beat the Canadians 5-2. The Brazilian men’s team failed to qualify for the semi-finals and were excluded from the fight for the podium.
Brazilian women’s sitting volleyball – 2nd round
Sesi/SP won the Brazilian Women’s Sitting Volleyball Championship – 2nd round by beating Aspaego/GO, by 3 sets to 0 (25/15, 26/24 and 25/23), last Saturday, the 8th, at the headquarters of the Association of the Physically Disabled of the State of Goiás (Adfego), in Goiânia (GO).
The São Paulo team also won the 1st round of the tournament, held in June, in the city of Maceió (AL). In the 2nd round, the bronze went to another Goiás team, Adfego, who beat Anthares (AL) in the dispute for third place. The entire competition was broadcast live on YouTube from CBVD TV.
Brazilian Hand and Under-23 in Paralympic Badminton
Gabriel Costa, 9, from São Paulo, a student at the School of Paralympic Sports of the Brazilian Paralympic Committee (CPB), a sports initiation project for children and young people aged 8 to 17, won the medal of silver in men’s doubles, in the SH6 class (small athletes), in Brazilian Championship “Diego Mota” Paralympic badminton under 23🇧🇷 The competition took place from October 6 to 9 at the Paralympic Training Center in São Paulo.
In addition to Gabriel, other students from the CPB project have won medals in the competition, as well as in the main Brazilian championship. In all, there were 12 podiums. There were six gold, three silver and three bronze medals.
The only Brazilian athlete in the modality at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games, Vitor Tavares (SH6) also stood out in the main Brazilian as he was champion in the men’s singles.
