The scam involves at least 29 million US dollars (about 152 million reais) that he allegedly stole from investors. However, it is suspected that the value is much higher. The number of deceived investors exceeds 150.

So far, only 1.6 million US dollars (8.3 million reais) of the amount invested by customers has been recovered.

Pleterski’s father and associates said his captors demanded a ransom of 3 million US dollars (15.5 million reais). It has not been revealed if the sum was paid and if the perpetrators have any relationship with the clients harmed by the businessman, who used to pose on social media alongside celebrities.

The police in Toronto (Ontario, Canada) are still investigating the case. No suspects have been identified.
