DJ Marshmello, who usually wears a white helmet, gave an interview to G1 before going on stage at Rock in Rio last Saturday (03). The performer was not wearing his helmet, but not wishing to fully expose his face, he used a balaclava and scarf, showing only his light eyes.
The enigmatic artist does not reveal his identity by strategy. He always wears a helmet with X-shaped eyes and a smile. The surprise was that he agreed to participate in the interview in person, as he normally speaks to reporters only by email.
Friend of Anitta, he revealed that he loves video games, loves funk and is thinking of doing a feat with the artist. According to G1, electronic music sites claim that Marshmello is American DJ Chris Comstock, also known as Dotcom, and although the light eyes are the same, this information has never been confirmed.
He says he doesn’t want his identity revealed out of a desire to make good music, without needing people to know who he is. Moreover, he explained the reason for choosing a sweet name. “When I started, my music was very soft, so it was my manager who came up with the idea.
Marshmello emerged in the wake of other masked DJs, including Canadian Deadmau5 and French duo Daft Punk. He rose to prominence for a 2015 remix of “Where are ü now” by Jack Ü and Justin Bieber. A year later, he broke through with the song “Alone”.
