Dr. Hato receives giant and exotic felines at an exhibition in Sto.André – 09/29/2023

Did you know that there are around 400 dog breeds in the world? And dozens of them come easily to mind, since dogs are considered humans’ best friends. But the pet that is gaining more and more space in the hearts of owners is the cat. According to the CFB (Brazilian Cat Confederation), at least 93 different breeds are recognized. And on October 7, the Dr. Hato Veterinary Hospital and Pet Shop will promote the Exotic Cat Exhibition, at the Campestre Unit (Santo André), starting at 9 a.m.

Cats from eight breeds will be present: Bengal, Don sphynx, Sphynx, Siberian, Neva Masquerade, Maine Coon, Egyptian Mau and Exotic. Visitors will be able to see the differences, the characteristics, the personalities, the particularities up close – and be surprised by the different sizes. A real journey through the world of these “different” felines.

“This giant cat show is a success wherever it is held and that is why we are presenting it to Dr. Hato. The goal is to bring more than 500 people to the event and show that there are different races, each with its own charm and particularities. Prepare to be enchanted and fall in love with these soft-footed giants,” emphasizes Taís Alvares, Marketing Manager at Dr. Hato.

The event will also bring many attractions to cat owners, admirers, guardians and those considering the idea of ​​having a furry companion like this.

In addition to this event, Dr. Hato Veterinary Hospital and Pet Shop is already on the agenda of customers and animal lovers. “We encourage pet meetings in our units to bring together passionate owners, allow an exchange of experiences, with many activities focused on entertainment. Another important date is Adoption Day, which has been held every Saturday for more than 20 years in all units, with the aim of promoting bonds and finding loving homes for various abandoned and rescued animals,” recalls Taís .

– SIBERIAN

The majestic and fellow Russian giant. The Siberian is a large, strong cat with a waterproof coat and thick undercoat, adapted to life in regions with cold climates. They are found in a wide variety of colors, and are also part of the hypoallergenic feline group. He is lively, alert and strong in nature and is a very good swimmer as well as a good hunter. Despite its strong and independent nature, this cat has become a perfect animal to have for company: friendly, sociable and docile. It creates a very strong bond with its owner, behaving similarly to a dog. Recommended for families with children, elderly people and pets.

– NEVA MASQUERADE

It is a sister breed of the Siberian cat, thus possessing many of its characteristics, such as its strong physical size, its waterproof coat with a thick undercoat and also being hypoallergenic. The difference between them is that the Neva Masquerade has a coat color pattern called “color point”, which means it has a more intense color on its extremities and a lighter color on its body. In places with more intense colors, it may exhibit the same colors as the Siberian cat. In addition to this color characteristic, Neva Masquerade always has blue eyes. The Neva Masquerade also has, like the Siberian cat, a kind, sociable and docile temperament, being a very lively companion who loves interacting with people.

One of the largest domestic cat breeds, with males averaging 6 to 9 kilograms and females weighing 4 to 6 kilograms. Some individuals may be even larger. They have a long, dense coat, often with varying colors and patterns. They are known for their fur “collars” around their necks. They are gentle and friendly cats, known for being affectionate with their owners. They are generally excellent companions. They are considered intelligent cats and can learn simple commands and even complex games. Maine Coons are vocally active and enjoy interacting with their owners through a variety of vocalizations. They are healthy cats. They are believed to have originated in the United States, specifically the state of Maine, as their name suggests. They adapt well to indoor and outdoor environments, but due to their size it is important to provide them with enough space to move around.

– EXOTIC

Cat breed often described as the “Cousin of the Shorthaired Persian”, due to its physical similarities to the Persian, but with a short, dense and soft coat, making it easier to care for compared to the longhaired Persian. Like the Persian, the Exotic has a rounded face, a flat nose and large, expressive eyes. They are cats known for their calm and affectionate nature. They are excellent companions for families and individuals looking for a cat with a calm temperament. They tend to get along well with other pets and children, making them a popular choice for multi-pet households. The Exotic is available in a wide variety of colors and patterns, including solids, two-tones, tri-colors and more. Although their coat is shorter, they may need regular brushing to prevent loose hair buildup and keep their coat healthy.

-DON SPHYNX

Breed of Russian origin. It is of medium size and weighs 2.5 to 5 kg. This breed has 4 coat types: brush, velvet, flock and rubber bald. With a very docile and sociable temperament, he gets along very well with children and other animals.

Breed of Canadian origin. These felines are very intelligent, affectionate and enjoy physical contact, their skin has a light down that resembles suede and is very warm. Its size is average and its weight varies from 3.5 to 7.5 kg.

– BENGAL

It was born in the United States in 1963 from the crossing of a domestic cat and the Asian leopard (ALC). It has a short coat and rosette markings and can be brown (most common), silver, snowy, or charcoal. He really enjoys the company of his owner, learns various tricks very easily and is friendly with other animals. Very affectionate and friendly, vocalizes to interact with owner. Lives on average 12 to 15 years. It is a docile cat with a wild appearance, very happy and very active. It has a muscular body and males are always larger than females.

– EGYPTIAN MAU

They originated in ancient Egypt, where they were revered by pharaohs and considered protective gods. The fur is of medium length. Cats with smoke-colored fur have fine, silky fur, while silver and bronze cats have dense, durable fur. He has an elegant, alert, loyal, shy and affectionate temperament. Life expectancy is between 12 and 15 years, while weight ranges from 2.5 kg to 5 kg. The Egyptian Mau is one of the oldest breeds and has been recorded in records since 1580 BC. This breed displays extreme intelligence and fierce loyalty to its human family. He enjoys human company, but on his own terms. When happy, cats often express themselves through sounds, laughing and wagging their tails. Moderately active, the Egyptian Mau likes to play with moving objects. The feline loves children and gets along well with other pets. Muscular body with excellent jumping and speed ability.
