Electronic voting machines are now tested on all TREs; to accompany

This Sunday, October 2, electronic voting machines will undergo a new audit stage. The process began in November last year and is being monitored by the entities responsible for monitoring this election. Today, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., all Regional Election Courts (states and Federal District) are conducting the Integrity Test, streamed online throughout the voting period.

What is the test? The day before polling day (Saturday 1st), the ballot boxes prepared for the vote were drawn by lot to be submitted to the Integrity test of today.

In a controlled environment and with the presence of control bodies of the electoral process, the agents of electoral justice, the judiciary and the public ministry simulate the vote in ballot boxes drawn by lot and, in parallel, carry out the same procedure of vote, with the same choices, with ballots ballots.

At the end of the day, the electronic ballot box delivers a ballot box (BU) which is compared to the total number of votes on paper. The whole procedure is filmed and broadcast online on the Youtube channels of the TRE (see the links to follow at the end of the article). Across the country, 641 polls pass the test.

Biometrics. This year, for the first time, also biometric functionality will be tested electronic voting machines. The pilot project will use 56 voting machines in 19 states of the federation. The test will take place at the polling stations. Voluntary voters will be prompted by electoral justice servers to unlock the ballot box – after having voted – with your Biometrics. To do this, you will need to sign a consent form. The voter does not vote twice, nor participate in the integrity test vote. Those who type the numbers into the ballot box are the officers of the Electronic Voting Audit Committee. What the voter is doing is just testing how the biometrics work and nothing more.
