THE Emirates took off for Montrealmarking the airline’s first passenger flight to the cultural capital of Quebec, its second gateway to Canada. Flight EK243 from Emirates departed with over 340 passengers including a VIP delegation and media on board at 3am today.
The new daily service to Montreal complements Emirates’ seven weekly flights to Toronto and brings the North American airline’s network to 14 destinations and a total of 18 in the Americas. The service will offer travelers to Canada connectivity via Dubai from points including Lebanon, India, Iran, Vietnam, Malaysia, Thailand and South Africa.
Direct services between Dubai and Montreal are expected to meet demand from a diverse mix of demographic groups, including business and leisure travellers, as well as visiting family and friends who are Canadians living and working in WATER. With Montreal home to several world-class universities, the route is expected to become extremely popular with students from the Middle East, West and Central Asia, and the Far East.
Emirates executives on board included: Adnan Kazim, Chief Commercial Officer; Salem Obaidalla, senior vice president of business operations, Americas; and David Broz, vice president of aeropolitics and industrial affairs.
