The midfielder spoke to UEFA about his dream come true of representing FC Porto in the Champions League
Stephen Eustáquio spoke to UEFA in the antechamber of FC Porto-Inter Milan, a match referring to the second leg of the Champions League round of 16. The dragons, in front of their public, will try to reverse the equality, which smiles on the Italians, by 1-0.
“What I really want is to go as far as possible and in the end I want FC Porto to win. They are the biggest club in Portugal, a club with a lot of history, respected in Europe and in the world. Every footballer wants to represent a club like this. I’m very happy to be here and I’m here to win,” said the midfielder after commenting on the evolution of football in Canada and the desire to be an example for his compatriots.
“I’m just doing my job and moving on, trying to inspire other Canadians who want to play at this level. We had difficult times because we didn’t have many elite players playing in the Champions League or in Europe. . We didn’t even have our professional league. Many children now want to be Alphonso Davies or Jonathan David. We have Atiba Hutchinson. He is no longer in the Champions League, but he has played a lot in the league”, assessed Eustaquio.
And the Porto midfielder concluded: “When I was a kid, I always wanted to play for FC Porto and play in the Champions League. It’s a dream come true. It’s a great feeling to hear the Champions League anthem before the games.”
