Canadian billionaire and businessman Lawrence Stroll led a group of wealthy investors into Formula 1 and put Aston Martin on the grid as a team in 2021. The team is doing very well in F1, as is the Car manufacturer. The Canadian believes that his work has been particularly important to this success.
Stroll thinks he should be honored for what he has done at British carmaker Aston Martin in recent years. Five years ago he and a group of investors bought the F1 team Force India and turned it into Racing Point. In 2021, this team changed its name to Aston Martin, when Stroll became CEO of Aston Martin.
As CEO of the automaker and owner of the Aston Martin F1 team, the Canadian said it means a lot to thousands of people. Speaking at a press conference, Stroll said: “I should be knighted for what I have done. I saved thousands of jobs and built a new F1 factory with an investment of hundreds of millions.
“The investment is impressive,” continued the Canadian. Together with his group of investors, he invested £1.5 billion in Aston Martin. Stroll continued: “It’s a great demonstration of my confidence in the company. Nobody invests this money in a company in which they do not believe in the future.
Stroll wants his F1 team, which has so far surprised everyone with its performance in 2024, to continue to evolve. Spaniard Fernando Alonso, has won six podiums in eight races so far this year, and sits third in the drivers’ standings with 117 points. By contrast, Lawrence’s son Lance Stroll is at P8, with just 37 points scored so far.
