Lance Stroll has let his frustration show after suffering his fourth consecutive Q1 elimination during qualifying for the Formula 1 Qatar Grand Prix.
The Canadian driver has had a difficult period of performance in recent races, failing to make Q2 during qualifying in Italy, Singapore, where he suffered a considerable crash which kept him out of the race , and in Japan.
Stroll once again failed to make it out of Q1 in Qatar, in a session in which teammate Fernando Alonso qualified fourth.
After being ordered to walk to the FIA weigh-in area, Stroll also appears to have pushed his performance coach, Henry Howe.
The Canadian gave a brief interview obligatory to Formula 1, in which he was asked about his emotions after the elimination: “Yes, it was rubbish,” replied Stroll.
When asked what was wrong with his current performance aboard the AMR23, Stroll replied, “I don’t know,” before stating that his approach is to “keep driving.”
Stroll’s recent disappointing performances have hurt Aston Martin in a difficult period after a strong start to the season, but only under Fernando Alonso.
Stroll has scored just three points in the last seven races as Aston Martin is under pressure from McLaren in the fight for fourth place in the championship.
