After some great races from Alpine riders Pierre Gasly and Esteban Ocon, the team’s negative performance seems to be a bit more behind. Ocon expects a strong performance in the Formula 1 Canadian Grand Prix.
He said in an Alpine press release: “We can be proud of the way the team has recovered after a difficult start to the season, which we know did not meet our expectations. We doubled the points in each of the last three races and also achieved a well-deserved podium. The team worked hard to achieve these results, so all the credit goes to them, both in the factories and on the track,” said Ocon.
“However, we are not at the level of our leaders, and this is something that we address because we still want to achieve the ambitious objectives that we set at the start of the year. We are fighters and we believe that we can challenge our competitors on the track, as we have already shown in some races this season,” he added.
The French driver continued: “It will be great to race again in front of passionate Canadian fans. As soon as we land, we really feel the support around us. Of course, Montreal is a predominantly French city, so that adds something special for us French riders. It’s a cool and vibrant city that transforms during the GP weekend as it seems like F1 is everywhere and it’s great to see! It’s one of the favorite races on the F1 calendar and we’re happy to be back here, and we hope to have a good weekend.”
