DSA offers consultations for the prevention of breast cancer

In October, a month dedicated to breast cancer prevention awareness, the Health Division (DSA) of the Viçosa campus will offer consultations to students, employees and their dependents, for a general assessment, including collection preventive examinations, or simply an assessment of the state of health. need to perform mammograms and referrals. It should be remembered that it is the most common type of cancer in women (excluding non-melanoma skin cancer) and the leading cause of cancer death among the female population in Brazil .
Therefore, according to the DSA, all women should pay attention to warning signs, such as: the presence of induration; skin erosion; redness; skin retractions or sagging of the nipple; skin with an “orange peel” appearance; watery or bloody discharge from the nipple; presence of palpable nodules in the armpits and dilated veins in the breast. In the presence of these signs or any other changes, if there is a family history of breast and/or ovarian cancer in first-degree relatives or if they are over 50 years old, the woman should consult a professional health to help him do so. assessment.
The Health Division also highlights that having a healthy and balanced diet (with fruits and vegetables), practicing physical activity and not smoking are some tips that can help prevent various diseases, including cancer.
