A FIA issued the Lance’s Walk a formal warning for his actions in the stands of the Aston Martin At Qatar GP In Formula 1 2023, after the Canadian apologizes.
The governing body announced this on Tuesday – four days after Stroll appeared to push his coach Henry Howeafter throwing the wheel out of the cockpit following his elimination during the final GP qualifying – that the compliance department was in discussions with the driver regarding various incidents which may have contravened FIA rules, policies and procedures.
Although not specifically described by the FIA, they are said to have focused on Stroll’s actions filmed last Friday and centered on the overall “disrepute” clause of the FIA International Sporting Code.
An FIA spokesperson issued an update on Friday afternoon which stated: “We can confirm that the FIA Compliance Director has received an apology from Lance Stroll regarding his actions during the Qatar Formula GP. 1 of the FIA 2023.”
“The Director has taken note of this apology and issued a written warning reminding Lance of his responsibilities as a competitor bound by the FIA Code of Ethics and other FIA ethical and conduct guidelines established by regulations athletic.
“The FIA maintains a zero-tolerance stance towards inappropriate behavior and condemns any action that could lead to physical harassment.”
Stroll’s actions appear to fall under Article 12.2.1.c of the FIA ISC, which states that a competitor will be considered to have committed an offense if found guilty of “any fraudulent conduct or any act prejudicial to the interests of a competition. or the interests of motorsport in general.
This rule gained importance in the case of Red Bull’s Max Verstappen, when he pushed then-Force India driver Esteban Ocon into Interlagos parc ferme after the 2018 Brazilian GP.
Verstappen was later ordered to serve two days of public service as punishment for his actions in Brazil, including his participation in the 2019 Marrakech Formula E race as steward.
