A Harley-Davidson motorcycle with Japanese license plates has been found on the west coast of Canada, and is suspected to have stopped there after being swept away by the tsunami that hit northeast Japan in last March.
The motorcycle was found by Canadian Peter Mark on April 18 while cruising along a beach in the state of British Columbia, separated from the Japanese coast by 7,000 kilometers of sea.
“You never know what you’re going to find when you go out for a walk. And every once in a while you find something otherworldly,” he told Canadian television CBC.
Harley-Davidson has a registered license plate in Miyagi Prefecture, one of the areas hardest hit by the earthquake and tsunami.
The abandoned container that housed the motorcycle also contained golf clubs, tools and camping gear.
According to the CBC, the Japanese consulate in Vancouver is now trying to locate the owner of the motorcycle, to find out if he is alive.
