The Canadian company, through its president, assumes responsibility for the labels, but the campaign and advertising elements did not have his participation
Early Tuesday evening, DryWorld management posted an apology on its social media for the message printed on the shirts. According to the text signed by Claudio Escobar, president of the company, the campaign and advertising elements were not approved by the supplier, who only assumed responsibility for the labels. DryWorld also assured that it had taken precautions to ensure that the episode would not happen again.
The imbroglio happened because fans also protested on social media against a phrase found on DryWorld shirts. In the washing instructions there is the message: “Give it to your wife”, which means “Give it to your wife”. The company apologized for what happened and promised to take precautions. The new Atlético-MG uniform collection was launched in partnership with DryWorld, a Canadian sporting goods brand, which signed a five-season sponsorship deal with the Minas Gerais team.
Before that, some had already been outraged by part of the launch parade of the club’s new uniform collection for the 2016 season, organized last Monday in Belo Horizonte. The complaint was that the club had been chauvinistic and sexist by dressing most of the women who marched at the event in only one piece of uniform (shirt or pants) – some just in bikinis and the club flag, the latter opening the flag when reaching the end of the path.
Atlético-MG took a position via the press service. He stressed that the club respects opposing opinions and demonstrations, recalling that there has never been any controversy during previous parades, which have already presented beachwear in other editions. According to the press service, Galo has always respected women and all segments of society and therefore understands that the controversy was unnecessary.

DRYWORLD Industries sincerely apologizes for the labeling of the promotional jerseys distributed during the Atlético 2016 collection launch event. This label was created solely as an advertising element for a campaign not approved by the company. We take full responsibility for the production error of the promotional shirts distributed with this label and we guarantee that all precautions have been taken to prevent this type of error from happening again.
