It was held this Saturday (16) in Manta, in Ecuador, another step of America’s Cup Triathlon 2023. This time, the Brazilian star shone Giovanna Lacerdawho ran a great race and crossed the finish line in second positionensuring the silver medal from the scene.
Giovanna had already achieved a good place last week at the Pan American Championship, in which she competed with the main athletes of the continent, and arrived in Ecuador with the hope of being among the first again. The Brazilian distinguished himself in the race by crossing the finish line with a time of 01:03:28 and winning the silver medal in the Manta stage.
The good performance of Giovanna Lacerda was only surpassed by the Ecuadorian Paula Vega, who had the support of the local public to cross the finish line in first place, with a time of 01:03:15, and win the gold medal. Closing the podium of the Copa América Triathlon stage, Paula Jara, also Ecuadorian, came in third place, 16 seconds behind the Brazilian.
In the men’s race, victory went to the Cuban Alejandro Rodriguez, who finished the race with a time of 00:55:43 and beat the local athlete, Gabriel Terán, in second place, by three seconds. Canadian Pavlos Antoniades crossed the finish line with a time of 00:55:54 in third place and closed the podium in the Manta stage. The Brazilian João Teixeira had a good race and is in sixth place, with a time of 00:56:28, very close to first.
