Government mission in Canada ends with partnerships for adventure tourism

The last day of the Government of Paraná’s mission to Canada ended this Saturday, the 22nd, in the town of Montebello, a municipality in the province of Quebec and one of the main adventure tourism destinations in the region. The entourage took part in an off-road experience where it was possible to ride public trails around the city. For more than an hour, the group got to know, on board a UTV (Utility Task Vehicle), a specific type of vehicle for moving in rough terrain, the destinations and places prepared for this type of nature and adventure tourism circuit, with adequate signage to guide and guarantee the safety of visitors.

The experiment was a sequence of meetings at the headquarters of the Canadian company BRP, in Montreal, last Friday (21). The company is one of the largest manufacturers of trail vehicles in the world and is a partner of Pro Tork, Paraná, Siqueira Campos, today the world leader in the production of helmets, in addition to the largest motorcycle parts factory in Latin America.

Paraná has enormous potential for adventure tourism through nature trails. Governor Carlos Massa Ratinho Junior said the experience can be replicated in Paraná in places and events such as the Mate Trail, in the União da Vitória and São Mateus do Sul region, the Caminhos do Peabiru which crosses the state and goes to Peru, the Transparaná Rally, which crosses the state from east to west and the Sertões Rally, the largest in Brazil, which last year left Foz do Iguaçu for the city of Umuarama, for example.

“This type of nature and adventure tourism is the fourth economic force in Canadian tourism, generating $3.4 billion. We have the opportunity to form partnerships to replicate the model in our state and move the economy of Paraná,” the governor said. “We have studied the creation of the Rosário Trail in the North Pioneiro region, and make it a great tourist potential, moving the economy of the region, with hotels, inns, restaurants and gas stations.

At BPR, the Paraná delegation also learned about the work of the Fédération des clubs de motoneige du Québec (FCMQ), an entity that brings together snowmobile practitioners, who use a kind of snowmobile, manufactured by the company, for the trails.

Quebec has about 33,000 kilometers of trails for snowmobiling, an activity that generates 14,000 jobs, according to the FCMQ, and which is the fourth largest tourist product in the province. In Paraná, similar initiatives aim to encourage the practice of adventure sports, such as the Adventure and Nature Games, which also contribute to the promotion of tourism and the creation of jobs and income.
