This Monday (08), the Minister of Finance, Fernando Haddad, announced new administrators for the Central Bank (BC). Gabriel Galípolo was appointed to the Monetary Policy Council, which currently serves as Executive Secretary of the Ministry of Finance. For the supervisory board, the name announced is the bank’s career server, Ailton de Aquino Santos.
Gabriel Muricca Galípolo, 39, with a degree in economics and a master’s degree in political economy, founded Galípolo Consultoria in 2009, of which he was managing partner until 2022. During the period from 2017 to 2021, he served as President of the Banking Factor.
He was Professor of the MBA in PPP and Concessions at the São Paulo School of Sociology and Politics Foundation in partnership with the London School of Economics and Political Science. Galípolo, was also a member of the Superior Council of the Economy and of the Infrastructure Council of the FIESP.
The members of the board of directors of the Central Bank are chosen by the President of the Republic in office, but must have their names approved by, by the so-called Sabbath, by the Federal Senate, for approval. The BC is made up of eight directors and the president.

According to Haddad, the names have already received the approval of the President of the Republic, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva. According to Agência Brasil, “the Minister said that the first person to consider Galípolo for this position was the current President of British Columbia, Roberto Campos Neto. The idea is that the candidates promote integration between the Ministry of Finance and the Central Bank”.
The executive secretary of the Ministry of Finance should be occupied by Dario Durigan, who worked in the Civil House in the government of President Dilma Rousseff (2011 to 2015), also served as adviser to Fernando Haddad between 2015 and 2016, when he was mayor of the state of São Paulo. Currently, he is responsible for the public policy area of Whatsapp – Brazil.
