The wife of Sum 41 singer Deryck Whibley has revealed that the rocker was hospitalized after his US tour and has left fans worried by the sudden news.
The woman took to Instagram to share the worrying article, with a photo of him getting into the ambulance. She reveals that the 43-year-old Canadian musician is suffering from pneumonia and probable heart failure. “Deryck and I were supposed to be in Chicago right now, celebrating our eighth wedding anniversary, but the universe had a different plan for us,” he began in a lengthy text.
“We spent all night in the emergency room and now we’re going to spend the next few days here in the hospital while he fights pneumonia. The scariest thing is that there is a lot of pressure on his heart and they tell us there is a possibility of heart failure,” she continued.
“It’s obviously not the first time we’ve been in a situation like this, but it brings back a lot of very difficult memories seeing him in a hospital bed hooked up to wires and IVs. I know how strong he is because I’ve witnessed what he’s been able to overcome, but that doesn’t make it any easier to see. I’ll do my best to keep everyone updated, but if you could keep it in your heart over the next few days, we might really feel it. »
This isn’t the first time Deryck has struggled with a health issue. In 2014, the singer was rushed to hospital after collapsing at his home. Deryck later admitted that his “liver and kidneys collapsed” due to excessive alcohol consumption.
In the comments, fans sent good energy to the musician. “You’ll get over it. Get well soon, Deryck,” one of them commented. “Be careful, Deryck. We’re waiting for you,” said another. “Sending you all love, healing and strength. ❤️,” the user wrote.
Deryck Whibley, who was married to Avril Lavigne between 2006 and 2010, exchanged rings with his current wife in 2015. The couple share two young children: a six-month-old and a three-year-old.
Sum 41 announced in May this year that they would be disbanding after 27 years as a group. But before that, he announced a new album and a farewell tour. They finish the tour with concerts in the United States earlier this month and perform alongside bands Simple Plan and The Offspring.
The iconic group comprised of Deryck Whibley, Dave Baksh, Jason McCaslin, Tom Thacker and Frank Zummo said their time together “brought us some of the best times of our lives” in their farewell statement.
