Homeless man dies after attempted robbery while impaired

The suspects are teenagers between 13 and 16 who met moments before the attack on the Internet

Last Tuesday, the 10th, Canadian police identified the homeless man who was killed when he was stabbed by eight teenagers on December 18th. According to the authorities, it is Ken Leewho was 59 years old.

At the time, as the team from the Aventuras na História website reported, little was known about the attack and the motives for the murder. One of the only known details about the victim is that she had recently contacted the city’s homeless shelter system.

As for the defendants, it was reported that three of them are 13 years old, three are 14 years old and two are 16 years old. They met on the internet and never met in person before the crime.

Details of a crime

According to the Canadian television channel CBC, Lee was killed while protecting his girlfriend. Both suffered an attempted robbery by the group of teenagers, who attempted to take the bottle of liquor they consumed, in addition to other personal effects.

Toronto police noted the subject was pronounced dead after arriving at the hospital. Ken Lee was allegedly beaten and stabbed by the teenagers outside the shelter where he lived.

It was also pointed out that the man had a relationship considered “complicated” with his girlfriend, identified as Erica. However, the two have always been seen together, even when he started living in a shelter. The couple often met in a nearby park.

He was here because of her,” said an acquaintance of the two. “He always took care of her.”

Now authorities are looking for close relatives of Ken Lee to warn them of his death. After the murder, the teens were arrested and will face charges of second degree murder. One of them, however, will await his preliminary trial on release after payment of bail.
