On October 4, ABMES participated in the announcement by the Ministry of National Education (MEC), in partnership with the Ministry of Health, of the notice of accreditation of new private medicine courses, within of the Mais Médicos program. The measure will create 5,700 places in 95 courses, distributed in 1,719 municipalities.
The next day, October 5, following a request from the ABMES, the MEC published notice no. 75, dated October 5, 2023, with the “additional rules included in the Enade edition which will be held in 2024” . The text confirms that the regularity of students can be verified by the IES itself, between December 1, 2023 and January 3, 2024, according to the terms listed in the notice.

Higher education census 2022
On October 10, the Ministry of Education released data from the 2022 Higher Education Census. ABMES gave an interview to several national newspapers to talk about the main figures released, including on the growth of distance education ( EAD).
Events and meetings
The CEO, Celso Niskier, participated on October 19 in the Edu Mission Summit event, in São Paulo/SP, promoted by Humus. Speaking on the “Future of Education” panel, Niskier spoke about hybrid quadrants, presented data from the ABMES/Symplicity Employability Indicator (IASE) and also commented on figures from the 2022 Higher Education Census .
Also participating in the panel were Ewerton Fulini, vice-president of the Ayrton Senna Institute and João Paulo Bittencourt, director of higher education at the Sociedade Beneficente Israelita Brasileira Albert Einstein.
Continuing the international agenda, at the invitation of the Minister for Education of the United Kingdom, Nick Gibb MP, Celso Niskier, participated in the event “Evidence-Based Education: the importance of assessment for “Impact on Learning”, which was held on October 24, at the United Kingdom Embassy, Brasilia/DF. The event was moderated by Kelly Tavares, head of education for Latin America and the Caribbean of the British government, and brought together, among other authorities, the president of Inep, Manuel Palacios.
The next day, October 25, in the morning, the Association organized a virtual seminar on “The application of predictive methods in higher education”. In the afternoon, Celso Niskier met with AGU Minister Jorge Messias to discuss relevant issues related to the regulation of higher education. Major topics always pass through the scrutiny of legal counsel, providing an opportunity to discuss the direction of the current system.
Almost at the end of October, on the 30th, Associação ABMES) participated, at the invitation of the National Bank for Economic and Social Development (BNDES), in the launch of the “BNDES Law and Development Forum” , in Rio de Janeiro. /RJ. Bruno Coimbra, Legal Director of ABMES, represented the entity at the event. The presence of the education sector and the proximity of the BNDES are essential to build pathways allowing higher education establishments to also access the public development and sustainability policies proposed by the Bank.
Enade 2022
Finally, on October 31, ABMES followed the publication of the results of Enade 2022. On this occasion, the Minister of Education, Camilo Santana, announced changes in the evaluation of diplomas: from the Next year, these courses will be evaluated every year, and not in the three-year cycle; there will be a revision of the reference matrix which makes up the elements of the test and an evaluation of the supervised internship and Inep will define a threshold score to establish the minimum expected performances, thus, the government will have the percentage of students graduating with appropriate diplomas. performance.
