Between November 17 and 18, 2023, in Espoo, Finland, the fifth of six stages of the Grand Prix of figure skating. Skaters earn points based on their finishing position and the top six qualify for the seventh and final stage, which will take place December 7-10, 2023 in Beijing, China.
We had the men’s individual, women’s individual, couples and ice dance categories. No Brazilians were present in any of them.
At singles gentlemen victory went to Japanese Kao Miura with 274.56 points in total, followed closely by his compatriot Shun Sato with 273.34 points. Frenchman Kevin Aymoz completes the podium with 250.03 points. A total of 12 skaters performed.
At ladies singles Japan won again with a double, Kaori Sakamoto with 205.21 and Rion Sumiyoshi with 190.21 points, respectively. The American Amber Glenn, in an excellent comeback, scored 185.39 points and moved from eleventh to third position out of the 12 athletes registered.
We pairs In a very tough competition, the Germans Minerva Fabienne Hase/Nikita Volodin won with 192.72 points. In second place, the Italians Sara Conti/Niccolo Macii with 188.60 points and in third the Hungarians Maria Pavlova/Alexei Sviatchenko. They scored 186.19 points and were only three hundredths more than China’s Cheng Peng/Lei Wang who finished fourth. In total, eight couples competed against each other.
In the competition of ice dancing, the best were the Americans Madison Chock/Evan Bates with 209.46 points. Canadian representatives Laurence Fournier Beaudry/Nikolaj Soerensen finished second with 206.32 points. In third place, hosts Finland Juulia Turkkila/Matthias Versluis scored 195.80 points. Ten pairs played.
The next stop will take place in Osaka, Japan between November 24 and 26, 2023.
